Hide or archive a conversation
Swiping a conversation away tidies your Messages list without deleting anything. The conversation moves to Archived, where you can read it or bring it back at any time.
Archive a conversation
Open the Messages tab.
Swipe left on the conversation.
A red button with a trash can appears on the right.
Tap the trash can.
Tap Delete to confirm.
Despite the wording, this archives the conversation rather than deleting it. Your messages are kept, and the conversation moves to Archived.
Find it again
Open the Messages tab.
Tap Archived at the top of the list.
Tap a conversation here to read it as normal. Tap All to go back to your active conversations.
Swipe left on the conversation you want back.
In Archived the button is blue, with a curved back arrow.
Tap the arrow, then tap Unarchive.
The conversation moves back to All.
Archiving does not stop someone messaging you. A new message from either of you brings the conversation back to All for both people. If you never want to hear from someone again, block them instead.
Archiving only changes your own list. The other person is not told, and the conversation stays exactly where it was on their side.
