Hide your profile from the feed

If you have found a roommate, or just want a break, you can hide your profile instead of deleting your account. Your profile stops appearing in the roommate feed, and everything else stays exactly as it was.

Roomie calls your profile your roommate listing, so the setting lives on the My Listings tab.

  1. Open the My Listings tab.

It is the tab between Messages and My Profile.

  2. Find the Roommate Listing section.

Your own profile is the row at the top. While you are visible it has an Active badge next to your name. If you have posted a room or apartment, this tab shows Apartment Listings instead, and the Roommate Listing section is not there.

  3. Tap Listing Status.

The screen that opens is called Hide Listing. That is the right place: in this case the listing is your profile.

  4. Tap Hidden.

It saves as soon as you tap it and the screen closes. Back on My Listings, Listing Status now reads Hidden and the Active badge has gone from your profile.

  5. To be visible again, tap Listing Status and choose Public.

Tip

Hiding does not close your conversations. People you are already talking to can still message you and you can still reply, so tell them if you have stopped looking.

Tip

Hidden is free. It is not a Roomie Pro feature, and you can switch between Public and Hidden as often as you like.

Careful

Show Me in Feed Settings also affects whether you are seen. If it is set to Rooms, you are only browsing places to live, and Roomie stops showing you in the roommate feed as well. If you set your profile to Public and still nobody finds you, check that Show Me is on All Listings or Roommates.

Tip

If you are done with Roomie for good rather than taking a break, you can delete your account instead. Hiding keeps your profile, photos and messages so you can come back.
